Trust Land Farm is a Mixed Vegetable Farm in Missoula, Montana
We offer produce directly to our community through our farmstand, to local restaurants, and to area farmers markets.
As of December 2024, our 8-acre farm site became the first community land trust farm in Montana, leased from the non-profit Trust Montana.
We are 100% women-owned, and are proud of our diverse crew of farm hands because, much like with crop planning and rotation, diversity provides strength.
Our Mission
Trust Land Farm exists to have fun, grow community, and care for our planet through wholesome foods with a commitment to quality, kindness, and environmental integrity.
Our Vision
We are working to create a profitable community farm and local food store that becomes a cornerstone for Missoulians who love high quality produce, memorable on-farm events, and a destination spot for those traveling through the region.
We hope to accomplish this vision through ethical choices for the environment we live in and the people we live among because what we eat, where it comes from, and how it’s prepared have a direct and powerful impact on the health of individuals, communities and the environment.
Our Values
Maintain an inclusive and equitable community space.
By welcoming everyone to our farm, working with a diverse staff, and supporting everyone in our local community through healthy food.
Support regional farmers now and into the future.
By stocking our farm stand with local producers we trust, sharing knowledge, and building shared capacity.
Grow and source responsibly.
By following organic practices for the health of us, our planet, and those who eat our food.
Make ethical environmental choices.
By focusing on the long-term health of our organic commercial farm space.
Meet the Humans of Trust Land Farm
Ellie Costello • Trust Land Farm Owner
Ellie established Trust Land Farm in 2024. She was no stranger to the farm site where she once interned for Clark Fork Organics. Today, she is building on the legacy of her mentors.
Since 2011, Ellie spent her warm seasons growing produce with small-scale sustainable farms from the Bitterroot northward to the Mission valleys. Exploring how to create resilient food systems, she earned an M.S. from the University of Montana in Environmental Studies. Ellie has also grown produce for her business, Black Bear Soups & Produce on a series of leased farm sites.
Before starting Trust Land Farm, she served as the Operations & Finance Director for Farm Connect Montana, but her career spans a wide range; she has worked in trail maintenance, agriculture, arts centers, tool libraries, yoga studios, environmental nonprofits, and craft beverage businesses.
Ryan Bundy
Ryan's day job may be as a Certified Architect with the local firm MMW Architects, but his nights and weekend are filled with the farm's honey-do lists. This man is the one keeping our buildings upright and fixing what's broke around the farm. While Ryan is rarely bent over a cabbage patch, he is often up a ladder or under a deck tightening up our infrastructure.
Farm Hands
Our seasonal crew of farm hands are the backbone to Trust Land Farm. They learn fast and move fast each season to get fresh produce to the people. Check out our social media for shots of current crew doing their hardworking farm hand thing.
